Slightly different home snippets post today, as I put the Christmas tree up over the weekend and thought I would show you guys. This year we decided to buy a new tree for the living room, as our old tree didn’t quite fill the space. This meant a trip to B&Q on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon to chose a new tree. We purchased a pre-lit artificial tree, went for artificial as we have a hard enough time keep the dog hair off the carpet, without the addition of pine needles. Also, I had no idea Christmas trees were so expensive, the last tree I bought was a cheap one from Asda.
Buying a new tree meant we had an extra tree, so I have put a tree in the dining room for the first time. However, this also meant we had to buy extra decorations for the extra tree. Buying the decorations wasn’t so bad but sitting down to tie the string on every bobble was not fun.
I love the house when all the Christmas decorations are up, there is something so relaxing about fairy lights and sparkly decorations in the room. The tree really brightens up the home, on cold dark winter nights. It’s always so depressing taking it down again in January – I wish it was acceptable to keep the tree up until March.
Definitely feel Christmassy now the decorations are up. I have a few more gifts to buy and then the gift wrapping can begin. I’m going to be celebrating Christmas twice this year, as my husband is working away over Christmas. He leaves next Tuesday so we will have a mini Christmas just the two of us and then I’m having my parents over on Christmas day.
