On Monday I shared some of my favourite blog posts from the year. As I was looking back over my posts I thought it might be interesting to pull together some of the outfits I’ve shared this year. This was my first full year of capsule wardrobes. And I wanted to see how my style has changed (or not) over the year and if the capsules had an impact on my style. I think these outfits clearly show that I do have a uniform of sorts. Although I didn’t start considering the idea of outfit formulas and uniforms until the autumn.
January – March
I really had my winter style down at the beginning of the year. I was moving away from wearing jeans every day with skirts in leather and suede, worn with cosy knits and boots. A really simple outfit formula which looks put together whilst keeping you warm. And lets face it in the early months of the year keeping warm is the most important thing.
April – June
I always find spring tricky to dress for. Here in Scotland, one day is gorgeous and warm and the next it can be snowing again. I was back in my jeans again, although this time girlfriend style jeans which became my go-to style over the warmer months. Shirts and light layers help get me through the awkward weather.
July – September
We finally started getting some warmer weather and I was determined to make the most of it. Going back to skirts over summer, only this time without the thick tights and boots. Similar to the skirt + knit formula in the winter I went for skirts + shirt formula or simple dress over the summer. Manages to look slightly more put together than shorts and t-shirt but it still an easy to wear comfortable outfit.
October – December
During autumn I wanted to add more colour to my wardrobe and introduced lots of burgundies. I found picking darker shades enabled me to wear colour more often and they worked better with the rest of my wardrobe. As with the winter months, I’m trying to choose skirts over jeans, keeping warm with knits and boots. In December I was getting festive creating different outfits for holiday parties using pieces from my capsule wardrobe.
As you can see my style is very simple and easy to wear. I’m never going to be known as a high fashion blogger but instead, I show real outfits from my everyday life (which lets face it isn’t a very exciting life). If you like seeing my daily outfits, I share lots on my Instagram (follow me here)
